jGYM: Junior Guildford Youth Movement is a youth initiative set up at St Joseph's Church

Mission Statement
jGYM is an open, accepting, non-judgemental and fun environment for young people in the Guildford area where they can grow as a community. jGYM aims to provide young people, between 10-13 years of age, with opportunities to come to know Jesus in a personal way, either developing a deeper relationship with Him or experiencing Him for the first time. jGYM also provide opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with others.

The Low Down
jGYM is a great space for youth aged 10-13 to come together, make friends and get to know God. The evening starts off with games then we come together and share a lovely home cooked meal. Then the teaching starts but it's not just a boring lecture, we make it fun with small group activities, competitions and the occasional silly game. Altogether it's a great couple of hours!

The Teaching
Last year we ran Youth Alpha and Christianity Explored Youth Edition (CY) and we had lots of fun. The Youth Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone (church goers or non-church goers alike!) to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening way over ten thought-provoking sessions. Christianity Explored has got around 10 dynamic and innovative sessions that present Mark's Gospel clearly.
This term we'll be embarking on a new teaching programme called The Grid. The Grid is an exciting Bible-based online course from the LightLive series put together by Scripture Union.
